Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Jeff Louis had started his career as a professional footballer at Le Mans, in Ligue 2, during the 2010-2011 fiscal year. This attacking midfielder then evolved several seasons at the upper level, notably at AS Nancy and Stade Malherbe Caen.

In November 2018, due to serious injuries on both knees, he had terminated his contract by mutual agreement with the Norman club. Returning to his native Caribbean island, the 32 -year -old man now finds himself at the mercy of local gangs.

“Gangs have taken hold of Mirebalais, the city where I have my house, about fifty kilometers from the capital Port-au-Prince. They took everything to me, assures the player spent through the Liège Standard. I had no choice but to flee. These people have no value, no consideration for human life. If you are a problem for them, they kill you ”,
he said during an interview given to the Republican East.

Jeff Louis fears for his life

Jeff Louis continues his story, expressing his distress:
“I left my district of Mirebalais, but I don't feel more safe. I'm afraid of dying. I still have a little bit of money to sleep at the hotel for a few days but, after that, I will find myself on the street, without anything. ”

“The gangs continue to extend their control over the Haitian territory”, said the executive director of the United Nations Office against Drugs and Crime (ONUDC), Ghada Waly, last January, at a meeting of the UN Security Council on the situation in the country.
