The return of Marc-André Ter Stegen does not seem to be just happy at FC Barcelona. Discarded from the field since September 22 due to a tear at the Right knee Rotulian tendon, which occurred during the match against Villarreal (5-1 victory) in Liga, the German goalkeeper has regained collective training for several weeks. He is also part of the Barça group for the King Cup final against Real Madrid this Saturday.
However, the situation turns out to be more complex for Iñaki Peña, one of the club's substitutes. Indeed, with Wojciech Szczesny, who arrived last October to ensure the interim in the goals of the abutments, and the presence of Ter Stegen, given of injury, the Spaniard finds himself relegated to the last rank of the guards' hierarchy.
Between free departure and planned sale
According to information from SportIñaki Peña, under contract until June 2026, could choose not to renew his commitment and leave Barça Libre at the end of his contract. He would thus have the possibility of engaging in favor of the stable of his choice.
However, this possibility should not suit the Barcelona management. It would rather consider selling the player next summer, hoping to recover a minimum of liquidity, or around 10 million euros, its current value according to Transfermarkt.
