The world of football is in mourning following the announcement of Boupendza's death at the age of 28, after a fall on the 11th floor of a building in China. Boupendza played for the Zhejiang FC, a Chinese Super League club, after having evolved in many clubs around the world, including Bordeaux, Hatayspor, Al-Shabab, FC Cincinnati and Rapid Bucharest.
Boupendza was also selected 35 times in the Gabon national team, alongside Aubameyang, and scored eight international goals. The Gabonese Football Federation (Fegafoot) paid tribute to Boupendza in a statement after her death.

Trained at CF Mounana and Bordeaux in France, the Gabonese striker joined the Chinese championship after a brief stint in Romania. Other tributes were paid to the former striker. The elected president of Gabon, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, described it as “A talented center forward that has honored Gabonese football”.
His former club, Hatayspor, also paid tribute to him in a message on X: “ We learned with a deep sadness the death of Aaron Boupendza, who wore the jersey of Hatayspor during the 2020/21 season and became the top scorer. We send our condolences and our patience to his family and loved ones, the Zhejiang FC team and our community. Rest in peace, my king. »»
