This Sunday evening, Olympique Lyonnais was traveling to the lawn of AJ Auxerre as part of the 29th day of Ligue 1. In the first half, the Rhone, dominating training (65 % possession against 35 %), came up against a low Auxerrois block capable of projecting itself quickly. The men of Paulo Fonseca, more sharp, obtained the best occasions of these first forty-five minutes, but without managing to shake the nets.
Upon returning from the locker room, the Gones pressed the accelerator. They managed to make the Aja lock yield before the time of play. Georges Mikautadze, launched at full speed in the back of the Auxerroise defense, crossed the surface and tried a comma before being broke by the Auxerre goalkeeper, Donovan Léon, late. Mikautadze becomes justice himself and transforms the penalty of a strike too powerful for Léon, yet left on the right side (0-1, 54th).
AJA reduces the gap, but OL seals the fate of the match
The visitors continued to push to make the break, facing the premises that are too imprecise despite some interesting situations. The goal of the 2-0 will finally come from the man in shape on the OL side: Rayan Cherki. The young playmaker finds Saël Kumbedi on the right side, who slides the ball into the axis to Corentin Tolisso. The French midfielder in turn transmits to Cherki, who finished the action of the left foot in the skylight (0-2, 62nd).
Far from admitting defeated, Christophe Pélissier's men tried to relaunch the machine. In the 77th, Lassine Sinayoko reduces the gap. On a center at Théo Bair, Thiago Almada back on Sinayoko, back to goal. The Malian striker is played out of Kumbedi and continues with a heavy strike from the left, unstoppable for Lucas Perri (1-2). But OL, in full confidence, did not stop there. In the 84th minute, Alexandre Lacazette completed the evening of his family. On a beautiful combination with Kumbedi, the number 10 Lyonnais shifts to Mikautadze on the left side. This last center at the ground for Lacazette which concludes from a left shot (1-3).
While the battle for Europe is raging in this final sprint of Ligue 1, OL climbs in 4th place, a short length from the podium, synonymous with tickets for the Champions League. For its part, the AJ Auxerre remains set in 10th row, four points from Lens (9th), but retains a comfortable advance on the red zone.
