For a few days, Patrick Vieira's name has been insistently invited behind the scenes of a large European club. The French technician, installed on the Genoa bench for several months, is talked about in Italy. And it's not trivial. His rigorous work, his clear playing philosophy and his natural authority appeal beyond the Liguria.

According to Sky Sport Italia, it is AS Roma who would very seriously consider entrusting the reins of his team to Vieira. The La Louve club, looking for a new momentum for next season, multiplies the tracks. And the former captain of the Blues is now in the short-list, alongside profiles like Maurizio Sarri, Vincenzo Montella or Stefano Pioli. A strong choice, at the crossroads between prestige and daring bets.

Vieira, a leap forward in his career

For Vieira, this possible appointment would constitute a turning point. After contrasting experiences in Nice and Crystal Palace, AS Roma would represent a unique opportunity to climb among the coaches who really count in Europe. It would also be a way to rewrite a page from Italy, this country which had opened its first doors at 30 years old, via AC Milan.

Vieira, a strong link with Italy

Before shining in the Premier League, Vieira has evolved in several Italian clubs: Milan, Juventus, and especially the Inter where he experienced his most successful years on transalpine soil. Italy, he knows it and she knows him. Seeing him direct an institution like AS Roma would therefore make sense, sportingly as symbolically.

Among the former world champions 98, Patrick Vieira asserts himself discreetly but surely. Without noise, he builds his career, takes on experience, is essential. He may not yet have reached the heights of a Zidane, but his name circulates, his ideas please. And Rome, perhaps, awaits him.
