Paulo Fonseca made a satisfactory start on the bench of Olympique Lyonnais. If the Portuguese technician had been talked about in early March, following his blood stroke against referee Benoît Millot during the match against Brest (2-1)-an anger that cost him nine months of suspension-, he is currently showing a balance sheet that pleads in his favor.

With the victory won against LOSC this Saturday (2-1), Fonseca recorded his eighth victory in eleven games at the head of Olympique Lyonnais, all competitions. A performance that had not been achieved in the Lyon ranks since the late Gérard Houllier in 2005, and even before that, Raymond Domenech in 1998.

A European shock to confirm

It remains to be seen whether the former AC Milan coach will be able to maintain this dynamic. Next major test: the Europa League quarter -final first leg against Manchester United at Groupama Stadium, expected next Thursday.
