If the Portuguese technician had been talked about in early March, following his blood stroke against referee Benoît Millot during the match against Brest (2-1)-an anger that cost him nine months of suspension-, he is currently showing a balance sheet that pleads in his favor.
With the victory won against LOSC this Saturday (2-1), Fonseca recorded his eighth victory in eleven games at the head of Olympique Lyonnais, all competitions. A performance that had not been achieved in the Lyon ranks since the late Gérard Houllier in 2005, and even before that, Raymond Domenech in 1998.
A European shock to confirm
It remains to be seen whether the former AC Milan coach will be able to maintain this dynamic. Next major test: the Europa League quarter -final first leg against Manchester United at Groupama Stadium, expected next Thursday.
