Protagonist of the VA-OM affair, Christophe Robert was also sentenced in another judicial case.

Among the players who were one of the protagonists of the most (sadly) famous corruption case in French football, Christophe Robert is in good place. During the meeting between Valenciennes and Olympique de Marseille, on May 20, 1993, the striker of the northern club was paid to simulate an injury and get out of the field.

The investigation demonstrated that his wife had been responsible for recovering an envelope full of tickets, handed over by Jean-Jacques Eydelie, in the Novotel car park where the Phocaeans lived. This will then be found in the garden of her mother-in-law.

At the end of the trial of this VA-OM case, which was held in March 1995, Christophe Robert had been sentenced to six months in prison sentence and 5,000 francs fine (around 1,750 euros in 2025). However, these are not the only legal troubles that the player trained in FC Nantes met during his life.

Christophe Robert, the recovery of justice

Indeed, in June 2018, he was also sentenced to a year in suspended prison sentence, in a counterfeit case of great classified vintages in Bordeaux. Converted as a company manager in the wine trading, Robert would have used “Pruity trading or intermediary practices” Or “The photos take place on the tasting of samples”.

“I stopped my career on a title of D2 champion with Saint-Étiennehe recalled in the columns of the Team in January 2023. Afterwards, it was very hard for ten years because I was passionate about anything other than the game and football. However, I can only live if I am passionate. Otherwise, I get bored. This led me to disperse and be, neither interesting nor a good person, at that time. »»
