Major advance in England: The Premier League will adopt semi-automatic offside technology from the 32nd day, on the weekend of April 12. Already used during the 2022 World Cup, Euro 2024, as well as in Liga and in the Champions League, this innovation aims to improve the accuracy and speed of arbitral decisions. Thanks to 30 new cameras and advanced optical follow-up, the system will draw more precise offside lines and generate graphics for better visual experience of spectators.

With a capture of nearly 100 frames per second, this technology promises a reduction in waiting time of approximately 30 seconds per decision. The Premier League ensures that its implementation will maintain the integrity of the game while ensuring fairer and consistent decisions. An arrival which will surely be welcome across the Channel, where the Var is very often criticized.
