An inevitable break. Jorge Sampaoli left Stade Rennais last January. Arrived in Brittany with the ambition to straighten a club in difficulty, the Argentinian did not succeed in the challenge. In eight matches, Rennes conceded six defeats, plunging the club at the bottom of the table. Sampaoli's style of play was not appreciated by the leaders who decided to end his lease and place Habib Beye on the bench.
As a result, this passage affected Jorge Sampaoli's rating on the market. Especially since the new coach of Stade Rennais allowed the Bretons to go back to 12th place and they are much more efficient.
Recently, the Argentinian coach shared his tumultuous experience in Stade Rennais. Unsurprisingly, Sampaoli scratches the sports leadership with whom tensions appeared. It led to his rushed departure. He refuses to make his mea culpa and accuses leaders of having compromised his project.

The coach, who led Stade Rennais from November 24, 2024 to January 25, 2025, denounced a recruitment which he considered incompatible with his vision. “The owner of the club is a very important person in France and, honestly, my expectations compared to the market (players) have not been met. The sports director decided to do a market that had nothing to do with what we needed ”he reveals.
Jorge Sampaoli has decided to end the collaboration with Stade Rennais. “We preferred to cut the bridges. I could not represent a team which I had not chosen the players in the winter transfer window. We even talked about players who have already played with us to change the story more easily, but we were not listened to ”he regrets.
