Like every year, the newspaper The team On Wednesday published an exclusive survey on the salaries of players and coaches of Ligue 1. A ranking once again largely dominated by PSG. From Ousmane Dembélé (€ 1.5 million gross per month) to Désiré Doué (500 k € gross per month), the first twelve all evolve in Paris Saint-Germain.
OM and OL then arrive with Adrien Rabiot, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Alexandre Lacazette, who receive 500,000 euros gross per month, while Mason Greenwood, Geoffrey Kondogbia, Ismaël Bennacer and Corentin Tolisso receive 450,000 euros gross per month. Very comfortable but rather justified income given the standing of these players.
Other footballers from the French championship, however, appear far too paid compared to their yield on the field. There are sometimes explanations that they touch such sums, but some figures make you dizzy. Here are our top 11 Ligue 1 players who do not really deserve their salary.
In Angers, a reservist at 110,000 euros per month
Adrien Hunou, Angers striker.
Adrien Hunou (Angers)
In Angers, the average salary is 27,000 euros. Only Le Havre pays for its players less well in Ligue 1. But the best paid player Adrien Hunou, culminates at 110,000 euros gross per month. Surprising insofar as the attacker must be content to play with the reserve, in National 3.

Samuel Umtiti, central defender of Lille.
Samuel Umtiti (Lille)
Seriously injured in the left knee, Samuel Umtiti has not played with LOSC since January 21, 2024, but the French defender remains one of the best paid Lille. With 150,000 euros gross per month, the 2018 world champion receives the sixth largest salary of the northern workforce.

Alban Lafont, goalkeeper of FC Nantes.
Alban Lafont (Nantes)
Formerly a guardian holder of FC Nantes, Alban Lafont has been downgraded since the arrival of Anthony Lopes. Despite his new lining status, or even number 3, the former French Espoirs International is the best-paid player in the Canaries, with a salary estimated at 150,000 euros gross per month.

Sekou Mara, Strasbourg striker.
Sekou Mara (Strasbourg)
With 150,000 euros gross per month, Sekou Mara is the fourth best paid player in Strasbourg, where the top 10 is between 110,000 and 160,000 euros. A salary that seems excessive given the status of the player, which is only replacement, and his performance (1 goal and 1 assist in 21 games).

Teji Savanier, Montpellier midfielder.
Teji Savanier (Montpellier)
With its 2 goals and 5 assists in 24 Ligue 1 matches, and a problematic attitude, Teji Savanier clearly does not make its best season with Montpellier. A Hérault club which is however very generous with its midfielder, which receives 210,000 euros gross per month.

Terem Moffi, striker of the OGC Nice.
Terem Moffi (Nice)
Victim of a breakdown of the crossed ligaments last July, Terem Moffi could not play the slightest match this season with the OGC Nice. A big blow for the French Riviera club, which pays it 295,000 euros gross per month. To see if the Nigerian striker regains his efficiency when he returned from injury.
In Rennes, wages are soaring!

Jordan Veretout, OL midfielder.
Jordan Veretout (Lyon)
If there is a form of logic that OL pays for the high price of experienced players like Alexandre Lacazette, Corentin Tolisso and Nemanja Matic, Jordan Veretout is doing very well with his salary of 300,000 euros gross per month, who lost his place as a holder in the midfield of the Gones.

Steve Mandanda, goalkeeper of Stade Rennais.
Steve Mandanda (Rennes)
With the arrival of Brice Samba from Lens, in January, Steve Mandanda lost his number one place in the Rennes cage. This does not prevent the experienced goalkeeper from the goal of receiving 300,000 euros gross per month, the third largest salary in the SRFC.

Aleksandr Golovin, attacking midfielder from Monaco.
Aleksandr Golovin (Monaco)
The advantageous taxation in the Principality allows Monaco to pay his players well. With its 320,000 euros gross per month, Aleksandr Golovin is not to be complained. But his salary is exaggerated given his performance this season (only 3 goals and 0 assist in 17 Ligue 1 matches).

Seko Fofana, midfielder from Stade Rennais.
Seko Fofana (Rennes)
The XXL winter transfer window directed by Stade Rennais has flambé the prices on the side of the Roazhon Park, where Seko Fofana culminates at 400,000 euros gross per month. A recruitment made possible by its former Al-Nassr club, which paid several million euros in compensation to the player.

Presnel Kimpembe, central defender of PSG.
Presnel Kimpembe (PSG)
Presnel Kimpembe only played three games since his return from a very long injury: against Le Mans and Saint-Brieuc in the French Cup, and against Brest in the Champions League. However, he is the tenth best paid player in Ligue 1 with 640,000 euros gross per month.
