In televised debates, opinions happen to be confronted vehemently. Certain muscular exchanges end up being forgotten, others, on the other hand, leave lasting consequences. This is the case of a hanging that occurred eight years ago, involving Habib Beye and a former French coach.
Clash Beye-Le Guen, a fracture still open
Far from being a simple one evening quarrel, this dispute resisted time. This Monday, on the show Day of Foot on Canal+, journalist Dominique Armand revealed that the tensions between the two men had never been appeased.
The Stade Rennais coach has been cold with Paul Le Guen since their confrontation on Canal+ in 2017. That evening, after a classic between PSG and OM (5-1), the two consultants had violently opposed live. The Guen, skeptical in the face of Beye's analyzes, had described it as “Sweet dreamer”triggering a scathing response from former Marseille defender.
The former Senegalese international had then criticized his colleague for having systematically disparaged Unai Emery and his work at PSG. Taken short, the furious guen had threatened to leave the set. The next day, the altercation had continued in a new program, the Guen claiming that he would never debate with Beye again.
Impossible reconciliation?
Dominique Armand confirmed this Monday that the situation between the two men had not changed since. “” It was very tense behind the scenes, and the dispute did not settle. It is still very tense today, and I believe that the dispute will never settle ”, he said.
If Habib Beye continued his career successfully, becoming a coach after his visit as a consultant, Paul Le Guen has disappeared from football radars. Despite the years, enmity still seems so strong. Reconciliation? Unlikely.
