The latest list of the French team unveiled by Didier Deschamps did not only make people happy. If the supporters of Paris Saint-Germain had the pleasure of seeing Désiré Goué being called for the first time among the Blues, those of Olympique Lyonnais and AS Monaco really hoped to see Rayan Cherki and Maghnes Akliouche made their appearance. Above all, their presence would have been a first step and an advantage in the hypothetical struggle with Algeria, which can join the two attacking circles having regard to the origins of their parents.
The former European deputy for Greens, Karim Zeribi, for example clearly criticized the choice of Didier Deschamps to do without Cherki and Akliouche, excellent with their respective clubs, but to which “DD” preferred other profiles. On the South Radio waves, Zeribi did not go there with a dead hand when talking about the 1998 and 2018 world champion, which he accused in half racism by comparing him to the current Minister of the Interior.
Algeria will go back to the attack
“Didier Deschamps is the Bruno Retailleau of football. He has a problem with the Franco-Algeria. This was already the case with Karim Benzema. I think these two players should choose Algeria as quickly as possible ”. This statement echoes Benzema's words a few years ago, when the former Madrid said that Didier Deschamps had given in to a racist part of France to justify his non-selction in the French team.
Rayan Cherki and Magnès Akliouche both played the Olympic Games in the French team last summer, until the silver medal won at home by Thierry Henry's men. If their priority normally goes to the tricolor selection, it is likely that the Algerian federation will return to the charge soon. Akliouche's family is from Bouira, Kabylia. That of Cherki, in any case on the side of his mother, comes from Biskra, 400 km southeast of Algiers.
