Barcelona tried, without success, to recruit Nico Williams last summer, after the exceptional performances of the young striker with Spain during Euro 2024. Despite the efforts of the Catalans, Williams decided to stay at the Athletic Club, wishing to win trophies.
According to Bild, Bayern Munich is now in the race to ensure the signature of the 22 -year -old winger during the next transfer window, in order to strengthen his attack. Williams has a release clause of 58 million euros in his current contract, which runs until 2027. After extending stars contracts like Alphonso Davies, Jamal Musiala and Joshua Kimmich, the Bundesliga giants will wait for new sales before investing in new transfers.
Williams wanted to stay
In an interview with French Football, Williams reiterated his commitment to the Athletic Club: “ This relationship within the club is incredible. Everyone respects themselves, which is incredible. This atmosphere, I will not find it anywhere else. I decided to stay for this reason. I made the decision I thought I was the right one. I am happy and I try to do my best. ”
The young attacker will be back in La Liga on Sunday, during the meeting between the Athletic Club and Seville outside.
