UEFA index: France strikes sends a strong signal

At the heart of February, the Netherlands came to tickle France for the quest for the famous fifth place in the UEFA index. This famous rank which allows the country concerned to benefit from four qualifying places for the Champions League. But as soon as adversity was harsher, the Dutch clubs have shattered. While there were still four of them in the previous round, Feyenoord, PSV, AZ and Ajax were all eliminated this week.

A boon for France, which has held its rank and which now has the assurance of retaining its fifth place after the season. If the LOSC, which was one of the great craftsmen at the level of the number of points scored in the UEFA index this season, was eliminated by Borussia Dortmund at home 1-2 when they had achieved a good performance in Germany, the other two French training courses in the running this week did not disappoint.

PSG and OL will allow France to widen the gap in the Netherlands

What to say of PSG which achieved the feat of winning at Anfield Road (0-1) against the indisputable leader of the Premier League, Liverpool. If it took a penalty shootout to decide between the two teams, the club coached by Luis Enrique proved that he could go very far in the competition. In the next round against Aston Villa, the future champion of France should still score points in the index and thus allow it to get ahead of Portugal, which no longer has any qualified club and which is placed just in front of France in the UEFA index in the current season (16,250 for Portugal against 16,214 for France).

If Paris will be present in the spring, OL will also be there. The Rhodanian club only bought a very low team from Steaua Bucharest, which took 4 at Groupama Stadium. Again, the band at Rayan Cherki has not failed and will be there in the 1/4 final. And we will have to get rid of a Manchester United team capable of the worst and best in this competition. If it seems almost impossible to return to Germany which has its side of three qualified against two for France, the latter will still want to finish the season to dig the gap against the Netherlands for the coming seasons since remembering it is the ranking of the UEFA index on five seasons that counts.
