Paris Saint-Germain was finally going to know. Puncling since the beginning of 2025, the capital's club was simply unstoppable, all competitions combined. Since January, Paris has played 16 games, has won 15 (1 draw) and has scored no less than 54 goals! Or an average of 3.3 goals per game. In addition to these breathtaking statistics, Luis Enrique's men especially seduced in terms of play. As Spanish wanted, danger can come from everywhere. Paris no longer depends on a single man to make differences. And in addition to that, the red and blue display a collective force, especially in defense, which we had not seen for years. However, for this progression to be validated, they still had to pass a more complicated crash test than Manchester City. By inheriting from Liverpool, the first of the C1 league phase, Paris was served. Was this new PSG going to face the Reds, undisputed leaders of the Premier League and favorites at the coronation in the Champions League? Before the match, Luis Enrique was confident, while his counterpart opposite, Arne Slot, confided that he would have preferred to come across a simpler opponent at this stage of the competition. On paper, the two coaches rather made in the classic. On the Parisian side, it was the typical team, even if Désiré Doué started on the bench, while Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was aligned alongside Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembélé. Opposite, Liverpool aligned his eleven guy with all his stars.

From the start of the meeting, Paris pressed high to pick up the Reds, but it was the visitors who quickly had control of the ball, Paris having difficulty in chaining more than two consecutively passes. Was it due to stress linked to the stake of the match? It is possible, because the rest of the first period was one -way. Finally returned to their match, the men of Luis Enrique dominated the Reds with their heads and shoulders. The partners of Mohamed Salah also surprised the observers by adopting a very cautious tactic. Positioned in a low block, the Mersey club systematically gave the impression of wanting to save time, from the first minutes of the match. Which gave an explanation of text between Slot and Salah, the Egyptian seeming to be very little served and above all very well marked by Nuno Mendes. Opposite, Paris dominated (the Ile -de -Franceiens even finished the first period with 68% ball possession!) And logically had the opportunities to make the difference. After a first alert signed Barcola (8th), João Neves missed the first big action by not framing his shot after a feat of Ousmane Dembélé on the right side (16th). Two new attempts at Vitinha (18th) and Dembélé (20th) followed, before KHVICHA KVARETSKHELIA thought of opening the score of a rolled left (20th). Unfortunately for him, his heel was offside at the start of the action.

Alisson disgusted Parisians

On the English side, the leader of the Premier League could not. Paris defended everywhere, including an imperial marquinhos. Cornered, the Reds had a big stroke of hot when Ibrahima Konaté went to push Barcola in the back in the position of the last defender. The images were formal, the French would have deserved to be excluded. But the referee, with the help of the Var, let play. Which provoked the ire of Luis Campos at halftime. Paris could enrage, but Hakimi's partners were able to move on very quickly. They once again put the Reds on the torment, but the 2019 European champion was able to count on an Alisson of the big evenings. After capturing a distant strike from Hakimi (24th), the Brazilian was intractable against Barcola (29th, 30th), Dembélé (30th) and Kvaratskhelia (37th). At the break, the Reds could be satisfied with the display panel in view of the physiognomy of the first 45 minutes. On the return from the locker room, Alisson always had the hot gloves. The Reds porter pushed a beautiful free kick and a strike from KVaratskhelia (53rd, 56th), as well as a dangerous center of Dembélé (55th). PSG was still pushing while Liverpool had only one shot since the start of the game, but the Ile -de -France residents were starting to leave more and more spaces in the Reds in the middle. Result: Luis Enrique had to remind some of his circles like Neves to stop playing too high. This did not prevent Paris from still stifling his opponent as much, even if Dembélé was too tended to fall back into his faults by sending a large number of his strikes in the gallery.

The first Parisian change intervened in the 66th minute and Luis Enrique did not choose to play it defensive since it was Désiré Doué who replaced Barcola. Unfortunately for Paris, the frustrating scenario of the match has not changed an iota, namely red and blue actions systematically annihilated by Alisson, the man of the match. Freshly entered into play, Goué was able to realize it in turn when he saw the Brazilian release a horizontal on his rolled up right (80th) and on a Dembélé attempt (84th). Ultra domineering, PSG has proven that it knew how to mistreat a great Europe. However, the Parisian inability to deceive Alisson (21 occasions against 2, 27 shots against 2) recalled the bad memories of the league phase in 2024 and in particular this cruel match against Atlético lost at the end of the match. And this time, it was Harvey Elliott who played the role of Correa by going to crucify Paris in the 87th minute (0-1). Sounded, Luis Enrique players can bite their fingers, even if the end of the goals' rule left hope for the return to Anfield.
