After nine years at the head of Liverpool, the announcement of the departure of Jürgen Klopp, a year ago, had the effect of a bomb. Today director of Global Soccer within the Red Bull group, the German had two years of contract, which Liverpool agreed to pay him, in the same way as his staff, in thanks to the services rendered to the club and the trophies brought back (a first League in 2020 and a Champions League the previous year).

Klopp and his team of seven assistants received combined payments of 9.6 million pounds sterling, or almost 12 million euros paid by the Reds for the staff who gave them to the top of England. An important expense for Liverpool, which according to the Daily Mirror recorded losses of around 70 million euros during the previous year, the absence of a Champions League strongly weighing on the accounts of the Reds.
