Who said MLS was an too easy championship for European stars? Not Olivier Giroud anyway. The French striker joined Los Angeles FC last July, and he still did not score the slightest goal in the league with his new club. It is only in the cut that the top scorer in the history of the Blues found the way to the nets.
Giroud had however played 14 MLS matches last season, and this silence is starting to raise serious doubts in California. To the point that Hugo Lloris was questioned on the subject before the meeting between Lafc and Minnesota, Saturday evening, for the resumption of the championship. “For Olivier, it was not easy last year to arrive in the middle of the season, he hoped for better statistics, but he has already shown what he could bring to the team on and off the field” ,, explained the teammate (and friend) of Giroud, relays the team.
Giroud can't do it
Before the start of the championship, Olivier Giroud had delivered a very disturbing performance in Concacaf Champions Cup. Los Angeles FC supporters wonder if their team would not be better without French. And it is not the match against Minnesota (1-0) that will reassure them.
Giroud started the meeting on the bench, since it was the recruit Jeremy Ebobisse who was holder. The American scored the only goal of meeting a superb strike (78th), just before being replaced by Giroud. And the Frenchman, on one of his first balloons, missed a face-to-face with the goalkeeper on a good Ballon by Denis Bouanga (81st).
At 38, Olivier Giroud seems in difficulty on the physical level. However, we are talking about a player who has succeeded wherever he went (Montpellier, Arsenal, Chelsea, Milan …), and who has always been able to bounce back during his career after complicated periods. Does he still under the sole?
