Lionel Messi grabbed an opposing coach by the neck and competed with the match referee after Inter Miami's dramatic draw in MLS against the New York City FC.

The Herons opened their 2025 campaign at home against their rivals of the big apple. They took the advantage after five minutes, but were reduced to 10 men in the middle of the first half when Tomas Aviles received a red card.

Messi's second assist in the match was necessary in the 100th minute to snatch a point after a 2-2 draw. If the Argentine superstar was able to make sure that his team did not completely leave empty -handed, he was always furious with the final whistle.

A red for Team Messi

The cameras filmed Messi involved in a stormy exchange with referee Rosendo Mendoza, which led the winner eight times from the Ballon d'Or to receive a yellow card. The 37 -year -old striker did not stay there, since he struck the coaches of the NYCFC by leaving the field.

Another exchange saw Messi attack Nehdi Ballouchy, the former star assistant from New York in MLS. It seemed at one point that Messi had asserted his point of view and was ready to move away, but he then put his hands on Ballouchy's neck for several seconds – causing a perplexed look of the coach in question, Who was invited to join the Inter Miami captain in the tunnel.
