Steve Mandanda is now number 2 in his goalkeeper post since the arrival of Brice Samba. A downgrade included by the former OM porter.

Steve Mandanda recognizes his responsibilities. The Rennes goalkeeper lost his place as a holder with the arrival of Brice Samba in the cages this winter. Now he must be satisfied with a number 2 role in his post. An downgrade that the former OM porter assumes.
“Today, I can only take myself to myself, I have not been efficient and from the moment we are not performing, it is something that can happen”he confides to
RMC Sport This Thursday.

Author of a complicated start to the season, Mandanda has not replayed since January 3. The arrival of Habib Beye in place of Jorge Sampaoli has not changed the situation for the goalkeeper who still remains number 2, behind Brice Samba. Today, he seems very honest on his responsibilities. “If I had been efficient, there would have been no debate, there would not have been necessary to think about the position of goalkeeper”he said.

“I can only take it to myself”

Mandanda recognizes his difficulties on the first part of the season. For him, this downgrading is a direct consequence of his performance. “From the moment I have a first part of the season which is more than average, where I cost a lot of goals and points to the team, it is logical that this reflection exists within the club. It was Brice who arrived, but it could have been another too. That's why I say it and I repeat: I can only take it to myself ”he lets go.

Lucid and honest, the veteran says he is always ready for all efforts to help Stade Rennais in his quest for maintenance. He should find the cages, Friday against Reims, at the opening of the 23rd day of Ligue 1, following the package of Brice Samba, suspended. It's up to him to seize the opportunity and to win again.
