OL-PSG is still a boiling meeting in the French championship. On the ground, the rivalry is strong, but in the stands, the confrontation between supporters is just as much. This year, the authorities made a drastic decision to avoid any slippage.
PSG supporters prohibited from travel
By prefectural decree, PSG fans are purely and simply prohibited from access to the Groupama Stadium. This restriction does not stop there: the Ministry of the Interior has also decided to banish any organized movement of supporters between Paris and Lyon. A measure that aims to reduce any risk of confrontation between the two camps.
Parisian supporters will not be able to come together in downtown Lyon either. The authorities wanted to avoid any regrouping before or after the meeting, fearing tensions. This prohibition is part of an already applied logic during the first leg, where Lyon fans had been deprived of travel to the Parc des Princes.
Maximum security for a high -risk match
The National Division for the Fight against Hooliganism has classified this maximum risk match, with a note of 5 out of 5. An assessment which is explained by violent history between the two groups of supporters, in particular the incidents occurring in the last final of the Coupe de France.
On the sporting level, OL plays big in the race for Europe, while PSG wants to continue its triumphant march towards a new title. But this movement ban marks a blow for Parisian supporters, who will have to follow this shock … remotely.
