The Marseille city has lost one of his family. During the night from Thursday to Friday, Avi Assouly, emblematic voice of Olympique de Marseille on France Bleu Provence, died in his sleep at the age of 74. Surviving the terrible drama of Furiani in 1992, he vibrated several generations of Marseillais with his comments, especially during the Bernard Tapie era in the 90s.

So tributes have multiplied since the announcement of the sad news, Didier Deschamps also wanted to honor the memory of Avi Assouly and to send his condolences to his family. Very affected, the 98 world champion knew the one who became a deputy for Bouches-du-Rhône after his journalist career since 1989 and his arrival at OM.

Deschamps: “I send my emotional condolences to his family and loved ones”

“I learn with great sadness the sudden disappearance of Avi Assouly. I knew Avi when I arrived in Marseille in 1989. Avi was a striking personality, who could not leave anyone insensitive. Like many players or coaches passed by OM, I was struck, from the outset, by its singular tone, its contagious passion. Avi had shown a lot of courage to get up after the drama of Furiani ”said “DD” to
Provence.

“He was a benevolent journalist, especially with those who defended the colors of his heart club, he added. Its popularity in Marseille has never denied itself. I send my emotional condolences to his family and loved ones, and share the trouble of all those who loved him. This (Friday) morning, OM lost one of its great voices. »»
