Arrived at FC Barcelona in the summer of 2022, Jules Koundé established himself as a key element of the Catalan defense. This season, the French lateral continues solid services, becoming an indisputable holder under the orders of Hansi Flick. Its growing importance in the Blaugrana squad has not gone unnoticed internally, and the club has already taken a position on its future.

A pillar of Barça, an assured future

In an interview with the daily Sport, the sports director of Barça, Deco, was clear on the contractual situation of the former Bordeaux: “He has a contract until 2027, and we are very quiet. We want him to stay with us because he is only 26 years old. We will talk about it at the right time, but as we build a team for the years to come, of course we want Koundé with us. ”

Deco's statements bear witness to a clear desire from Barça to stabilize its workforce by retaining its executives. Koundé, who perfectly embodies this transition, is therefore one of the players on which the club wants to rely for the future.

Other files are also at the center of concerns of the Catalan club. Ronald Araújo, another defensive pillar, was asked this winter, but the club never wanted to part with it. “We never wanted to sell Araújo, and it was he who made the decision to stay,” explained Deco, adding that he thinks that the Uruguayan defender will continue the adventure with Barça next season.

Lamine Yamal, untouchable

Deco also spoke on Lamine Yamal, the nugget of the training center, ensuring that no offer will be studied for him: “He is a key player and there is no price for him.”
A strong declaration, showing that Barça wants to protect its young talents like Gavi or Cubarsí, while consolidating its executives.

With these positions, Barça confirms its long -term project, where Jules Koundé is like a centerpiece of the workforce. It remains to be seen whether an extension will be studied in the next seasons. For the moment, the Catalan club wants to be serene about its future.
