A few hours before a European shock, Kylian Mbappé is recalled to order for reasons far from the field.

While Kylian Mbappé is preparing to tread the lawn of the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City in the Champions League, a controversy bursts far from the spotlight. The Real Madrid striker, usually at the center of sports debates, is this time arrested for his management of a much more modest club: the Stade Malherbe de Caen. The timing of this criticism, launched just before such an important match, questions.

Mbappé taken to task before the European poster

Behind this unexpected speech, however, it is not a major actor in world football that is expressed, but Pierre Bouby, former Ligue 2 player and now a consultant for the team. The latter did not chew his words on the situation of the Norman club:

“What's going on in Caen? There have been changes in the organization chart, but to run the club well, it requires skills, and it's complicated for the moment because they don't have them. They (the Mbappé clan) take things upside down, I think. However, there is a coherent workforce. The more they change their coach, worse it is. There they are in a dangerous whirlwind. ”

A project in crisis: the Mbappé clan at the heart of criticism

The investment of the Mbappé family, via their Coalition Capital fund, aimed to revitalize this historic Ligue 2 club. But the ambition displayed contrasts today with the results: Caen occupies the last place in the championship and continues the counter-performance . The supporters, frustrated by this descent into hell, were quick to express their anger.

Mbappé's shadow hovers over the debacle.

Hostile banners have been seen around the Michel-d'Ornano stadium, targeting Fayza Lamari directly, Kylian Mbappé's mother and influential figure of this new direction : “Fayza, the boutées are in shit”could we read, emphasizing the growing dissatisfaction of fans in the face of club management.

A club in danger, an uncertain future

Pierre Bouby continued his criticism by insisting on the urgency of the situation: “If Caen goes down, it will hurt a lot. It is a historic club. Me, it would bother me to relive an FC Sochaux. ” This reference echoes the descent into hell of FC Sochaux, another historic club victim of bad recent management. Bouby concludes with a direct call:
“I hope the Mbappé clan will be up to the mission which is theirs, which is to save Caen.”

The Mbappé under pressure clan

Faced with these criticisms, Ziad Hammoud, club president and close to the Mbappé family, tried to defend the involvement of new shareholders: “To say that we are disconnected is not fair. The shareholders are real football enthusiasts, 100% involved. They have invested their personal money, it is not a game for them. ” But will these words be enough to appease more and more disillusioned supporters?

This Tuesday evening, on the Manchester lawn, Mbappé will have to juggle between its sporting performance and extracurricular pressures, with the hope that criticisms on its management outside the terrain will not taint its concentration.
