The mini championship phase of the Champions League ended this Wednesday. 24 teams have validated their ticket for the direct elimination phase, but 16 of them will have to go through the dam box. Among French clubs, only LOSC has acquired the right to rest while waiting for the knockout stages. However, the suspense was not at its paroxysm this afternoon at UEFA headquarters, despite the possibility of finally seeing two clubs from the same country meet before the quarter -finals.

Indeed, it should be remembered that the drawing of the dams (and the rest of the competition) is not integral. The final classification of the league phase predefined future oppositions and each club now has only two possible opponents. This new format therefore offered us a 100% Ligue 1 confrontation from the dams. Fifteenth of the ranking, Paris Saint-Germain will play in front of the Brest revelation. Good news for the Ile -de -France residents who have never lost in front of the Bretons in 29 matches (21 victories, 8 draws).

Another shock between Real Madrid and Manchester City

Chance of the calendar, the two teams will no longer leave themselves since they will meet three times in three weeks, namely tomorrow in Ligue 1 and during the two dam matches. For his part, Monaco will try to take revenge against Benfica. The Aguias won Louis II at the end of a match tainted by large arbitral controversies. Finally, this draw also offers us a poster worthy of a final.

Qualified by extreme accuracy, Manchester City (22nd) had a chance in two to come across Real Madrid. The Skyblues will challenge Merengues well in a shock which has become a classic of the C1 in the past three years. As a reminder, the back and forth matches will compete on February 11 and 12, while the returns matches will take place the following week, the 18 and 19. Then the last draw for the competition will be held on Friday, February 21, and will thus determine all of the table.
