OM management has just wiped a major disappointment in one of its priority files this winter.

While the winter transfer window is coming to an end, Olympique de Marseille has an unexpected setback. One of his priorities, long negotiated in recent weeks, escapes him at the last moment. This player, whose versatile profile and promising potential had seduced the Marseille direction, nevertheless seemed about to join the Vélodrome. But a European rival finally returned the situation.

Zalewski, the Hope glowed by OM

These are Nicola Zalewski. The young Polish international of AS Roma (23), capable of evolving both on the left and right as a piston, was on the way to becoming the new OM recruit. An agreement had even been reached between Marseille and Roma, but Inter Milan came to upset everything if you trust RMC Sport. The Milanese club, in the middle of a race for the title in Serie A, managed to convince the player to favor a future in Italy. A decision that deprives OM of a promising talent.

Faced with this disillusionment, Marseille is now turning to another Italian: Nicolò Fagioli. The Juventus midfielder (23 years old), currently in the recovery phase after a seven -month suspension for illegal bets, is in the crosshairs of the Phocaeans. The discussions are advancing, with a loan proposal including a purchase option. However, OM refuses to make it compulsory, preferring to keep a room for maneuver to assess the player in the long term.

Fagioli in the absence of Zalewski for OM?

Luiz Felipe The only recruit of the transfer window, the attack in suspense

For the moment, OM can only count on a single winter signature: that of the Brazilian defender Luiz Felipe, arrived free from Al-Ittihad. A minimalist reinforcement, while the transfer window closes in five days. The situation is all the more worrying in attack, where no replacement was found for Elye Wahi, transferred to Frankfurt. The Marseille supporters are getting impatient, fearing that the lack of reinforcements would penalize the team in the race for the objectives of the season.

Failure on Zalewski illustrates OM's difficulties in competing with large European clubs to attract the most coveted talents. While time is running out, the Marseille management must redouble their efforts to finalize files and reassure an audience awaiting ambitious signs. It remains to be seen whether Fagioli or another last -minute surprise will restore hope to the Phocaeans. The end of the transfer window promises to be decisive.
