Neymar is expected to seal his return to his boyhood club Santos in Brazil this month and end his horror spell at Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League. The Brazilian captain joined the Middle East side in the summer of 2023, but saw injuries ruin his time at the club as he played just seven games in a year and a half in Saudi Arabia.
It is still unclear how Neymar's transfer to Santos will be facilitated as he still has six months left on his contract with Al-Hilal. The two options facing the former Barcelona player remain: terminating his lease with the Saudi Pro League champions or a loan to Brazil.
Towards a breach of contract?
According to Footmercato, Neymar accepted a massive pay cut to facilitate his move to Santos this month, and his contractual situation at Al-Hilal remains the only obstacle to his move.
Al-Hilal boss Jorge Jesus has abandoned the idea of Neymar and has already revealed that he will not be registered for the second half of the Saudi Pro League season. Therefore, a return to Santos next January is likely to happen sooner than expected
