Sacred Mariusit's the catchy song released by Marius Trésor in 1978. After three seasons in Ajaccio, the central defender from Guadeloupe was recruited in 1972 by OM to strengthen the double French champion team (1971 and 1972) of the incredible scorer Josip Skoblar. The rock never won the French championship with the Olympians, but won the 1976 Coupe de France as captain (2-0 against OL). With 299 matches, he is the 10th most capped player in the history of the Marseille club!

On the other hand, the end of Trésor's journey is chaotic… A few months before the end of his contract, the central defender went for his medical examination in Munich, with Bayern imagining making him the successor to Franz Beckenbauer! OM, in financial difficulties, then asked for a lot of money from the Bavarian club. Blocked by the Marseille leaders, Marius Trésor remained in Provence and even agreed not to be paid for two months to ensure other salaries… The Marseillais were still relegated to D2 and Trésor left the club to sign free for Bordeaux .
The native of Sainte-Anne is therefore not only a figure of the Girondins, where he finished his career, and especially of the French team of the 70s and 80s. Selected 65 times, he scored superbly resumed during the legendary France-West Germany in the semi-finals of the 1982 World Cup (3-3, 5 tab to 4). Stopped by injuries, Marius Trésor ended his career a few weeks before the victory of the French team of star number 10 Michel Platini at Euro 1984. There too the end was terrible…
