Before achieving success on the Losc bench, Christophe Galtier spent eight years with AS Saint-Étienne. A period during which he notably allowed the Greens to regain a certain stability in Ligue 1, but also to win the League Cup in 2013. During his years in Saint-Etienne, the coach crossed paths with Nolan Roux. The former striker has not only kept good memories of his ex-coach.

In an interview published this Sunday in The Teamthe one who retired in May 2024 was asked to name the coach he would definitely not want to see again. And he therefore chose to mention Christophe Galtier. “At the end of my second season with Saint-Étienne, we lost against Marseille while I was not in the group and, the next morning, I had a meeting with Christophe Galtier and the president's right-hand man. I am told that I have half an hour to remove my things from the locker room and that I am no longer allowed to come to the training center. »

Nolan Roux marked by the episode

A blow to Nolan Roux who obviously had a very bad experience with the episode. “I feel like I’m in court. They justified their decision by reducing the workforce. For a player who has never hurt anyone, at the time, it really struck me. » But time having passed, the thirty-six-year-old man is now ready to move on. “That doesn't mean that I wouldn't like to meet the person or people in question again, but I didn't expect the blow that was done to me. And I didn't find it justified. »

With 295 Ligue 1 matches on the clock for 73 goals scored, Nolan Roux is now taking advantage of his recent retirement as a professional footballer to have a little good time. As for Christophe Galtier, since his relative failure at PSG, he has coached the Qatari club Al-Duhail.
