Serious concerns were raised for Chelsea's first team on Monday afternoon as a police chase unfolded near the team hotel hours before their Premier League encounter against Wolves. According to reports from The Sun and MyLondon, the incident involved an accident and resulted in three arrests, delaying the Blues team bus – which was due to transport the players to Stamford Bridge – in the process.
The exact nature of the incident remains unclear. However, one suspect was arrested for refusing to comply, while two others were apprehended in connection with the sale of drugs. The unexpected event in west London may have disrupted the team's pre-match preparations, but Enzo Maresca's side still managed to put in a professional performance and win all three points in front of their home fans.
Chelsea not disturbed
Chelsea's victory took the Blues back to fourth place in the Premier League table, ahead of a resurgent Manchester City. Maresca's men have already reached the 40-point mark, winning their 11th match of the 2024-25 campaign.
Chelsea will then travel to Manchester to face City. A victory for the Blues would open up a five-point gap on Pep Guardiola's men and give them some respite in the race for the top four.
