This Friday, January 17, Manchester City put an end to emerging rumors around a potential departure of Erling Haaland to Spain by announcing the contract extension of its Norwegian monster. An exceptional contract both in terms of its duration and its price. The Skyblues center forward signed a contract extending until June 2034 with Manchester City, i.e. nine years of contract. If he leaves Manchester free, he will therefore be 33 years old when he leaves the club.

His income is also exploding. With bonuses, his salary could rise to 750,000 pounds per week (888,000 euros), or €43.2 million over a year. But to this are added its various sponsorship contracts, or even its image rights for a total of more than around €60 million over twelve months. This is “one of the most lucrative contracts in the history of sport” according to The Athletic. Over the total duration of his contract, the Norwegian could receive no less than 600 million euros. More than half a billion euros, therefore, for a scorer who could in the coming years put his name among the very best in history.
