Former partners at the Girondins de Bordeaux, Christophe Dugarry and Eduardo Costa got into a fight one evening in December 2002. The Brazilian recounted the scene.

If today he does not hesitate to go to the front to speak his mind when he is on the air in his role as consultant, Christophe Dugarry did the same during his career as a professional footballer. A testimony given by Eduardo Costa, the Frenchman's former teammate in Bordeaux, confirmed this.

In an interview published Sunday by The Teamthe Brazilian who played for the Girondins between 2001 and 2004 was asked to remember his biggest altercation with a player. And so it was a fight with his own partner that he immediately remembered. “With Dugarry, we warmed up on the pitch then in the locker room, in Anderlecht. » And the former midfielder continues with this anecdote dating from December 2002, during a UEFA Cup match.

Communication broken between Dugarry and Costa

“I'm not proud of it but in the heat of the moment, I broke down. He thought I was disrespecting him. (…) It was a real fight. We never spoke again after that. Fighting with your captain is ugly and I was labeled a 'bad boy' in the industry. However, I am a nice boy who has a good heart. »

The two men did not speak to each other again until Christophe Dugarry left Bordeaux for the second time in 2003 to join Birmingham. Eduardo Costa will leave in 2004 and move to Olympique de Marseille where he will only stay for one season.
