More than two months after its last victory, in all competitions, Montpellier has returned to success. Friday evening in its Mosson stadium, Jean-Louis Gasset's team was able to turn around an initially poor situation, to finally win against AS Monaco (2-1, 18th day of Ligue 1) . This success allows the Héraultais to continue to hope for survival at the end of the season.
Everything started badly for Montpellier during a complicated first period quite clearly dominated by their visitors. Monegasques who logically opened the scoring thanks to Thilo Kehrer (0-1, 32nd) and who returned to the locker room with this slight advantage. Too light in fact since the MHSC will come back to the score through Mousa Al-Tamari (1-1, 55th).
Al-Tamari, man of the match
The midfielder who will become the man of the match since at the dawn of the last ten minutes of regulation time, he will double the lead for his team (2-1, 82nd). Two shots on target for Montpellier and two goals for Al-Tamari. Enough to set the mood in the aisles of the Montpellier stadium. This result confirmed, the Héraultais have temporarily returned to Le Havre (19th), with twelve units on the clock, four points behind the Saint-Etienne roadblock.
If the final result is welcome for Montpellier, it is on the other hand very bad for AS Monaco which is running out of fuel and which this evening continues a fourth match in a row without success in Ligue 1 (two defeats and two draws). Depending on the results of its pursuers, the Rocher club could fall from the podium and fall back to fifth place.
