Top scorer in PSG history at 26 (with 256 goals), Kylian Mbappé still has many years ahead of him to become the top French scorer in history. Last Sunday, during the final of the Spanish Super Cup lost by Real Madrid against FC Barcelona, the prodigy from Bondy scored his 15th goal with the Merengues in all competitions (he has already scored in La Liga, in the Ligue des champions, in the European Super Cup and in the Intercontinental Cup this season).
Thanks to this first goal in a Clasico, Mbappé now has 346 goals in his professional career (27 with AS Monaco, 48 with the French team). He becomes the sixth best French scorer in history ahead of his former French teammate Olivier Giroud. The latter joined Los Angeles FC, in MLS, last July, but has not scored a single goal in the North American championship.
Mbappé soon ahead of Platini
This season, Mbappé has the chance to match the scores of Michel Platini and Bafé Gomis, who finished their careers with 354 and 361 goals respectively. André-Pierre Gignac is the 4th top French scorer in history with 363 goals but the star striker of the Tigres, at 39, has left for another year with the Mexican team. Roger Courtois, scorer for Sochaux in the 30s and 40s, will also be quickly caught up by Mbappé.
Once on the podium, Kylian Mbappé will then have the illustrious Karim Benzema and Thierry Henry in his sights. The 98 world champion and Arsenal legend has 411 career goals, while the 2022 Ballon d’Or sits at the top of this ranking with 485 units.
