After OM’s victory against Rennes, Rulli clearly expressed his intention to put pressure on PSG.

This Saturday, against Stade Rennais (2-1), Geronimo Rulli, the goalkeeper of Olympique de Marseille, delivered a superb performance, testifying to his growing ambition. Decisive on a penalty taken by Arnaud Kalimuendo – his third save in this exercise of the season – the Argentine goalkeeper was one of the great architects of his team’s victory.

Thanks to this success, the Marseille team consolidates its second place, behind Paris Saint-Germain. It is four lengths behind its Parisian rival, before AS Saint-Étienne travels to the Parc des Princes this Sunday. Enough to further fuel the dream of a national title for Rulli and the Ciel et Blanc.

“My mentality is to win”

For the former Ajax Amsterdam goalkeeper, this match against Rennes was of capital importance. “It was very important to win, because we were playing before PSG and we wanted to come back to within four points of them. (…) It was the most important match in recent months”he explained in comments relayed by Provence.

Rulli and his teammates are now preparing for the next clash of the round of 16 of the Coupe de France against LOSC next Tuesday. “Now we look to Tuesday in the Cup, hoping that the stadium will be full like the Bombonera. My mentality is to win, look up, therefore Paris. I’m not afraid to say it”, said the La Plata native.
