The fight against racism in Spanish stadiums is making new progress. According to the press agency EFEReal Madrid winger Vinicius Junior will testify by videoconference at the Barcelona court on January 23, for a case of racist insults directed against the Brazilian during the Clasico, on October 28, 2023. Two Catalan supporters will be summoned to appear before the court , a trial during which Vinicius will therefore intervene.
Video surveillance images and testimonies made it possible to identify three supporters as the probable perpetrators of the racist insults. One of them being a minor, he will not appear before the same court as his two friends. Judge Carmen García offered the Brazilian the opportunity to present himself as a victim in this case. A situation which is not unprecedented on the other side of the Pyrenees, since three Valencia supporters were sentenced last June to eight months in prison after racist insults, already against Vinicius Junior.
