His episode this summer caused a lot of talk. Already considered a player with high market value, Ernest Nuamah was pushed out by John Textor at the start of the season. The American businessman, who needed liquidity just after having exercised his 28.5 million purchase option, decided to send him to Fulham. And while everything was closed between the clubs and the Ghanaian international had to undergo his medical examination then sign his contract, he decided to turn back and flee.

The press explained that Nuamah would have had a hard time with the pressure that John Textor and Matthieu Louis-Jean (the recruitment director) had put on him to agree to leave. He was even seen in tears on the day of this aborted transfer, just one year after his arrival which had already caused controversy. At the time, to circumvent DNCG sanctions, John Textor used the Molenbeek club (which belongs to his Eagle Football group) to buy the 21-year-old winger from Nordsjælland and then loan him out with the option of purchase in Lyon.

Nuamah close to Everton

A year and a half later, we can say that the arrival of Ernest Nuamah at OL did not have the desired effect. Last season, for his first year in Ligue 1, the hard-hitting left-hander was ineffective with 3 goals and 2 assists in 33 matches. This season, he started on the same basis with 1 goal and 1 assist in 16 matches. A too meager record which once again pushes OL, which has major financial problems, to push him towards the exit this winter. And this time, it’s Everton who are interested and who should even go through with it.

According to our information, the Toffees are very close to completing the arrival of the Ghanaian. The different parties have almost reached an agreement and Ernest Nuamah should discover the Premier League once and for all. OL will quickly formalize a new start, which is part of the logic of an imperative downsizing to survive financially. The amount of the operation remains to be known, although OL had paid 28.5 million this summer to buy him permanently.
