Monaco hung by Nantes

A good student of this French championship,AS Monaco started to take a nosedive in recent weeks. Certainly dulled by an overloaded schedule between Ligue 1, the Champions League and a Champions Trophy relocated to Qatar, Adi Hütter’s men were looking for a second wind.

It is in this context that the Principality club traveled to Nantes for a great classic between two of the greatest winners of the French championship. A poster that the Canaries approached under high tension, despite the promising draw won against Lille. And in this balance of power, no one had the last word.

More effective in the two zones of truth in the first period, the Canaries found the opening from the start. Abline was the author of a perfect sequence to break the deadlock and put his team on the right track (1 -0, 12th). A goal which did not fundamentally change the approaches of the two teams. Monaco continued to hold the ball against Nantes who were trying to reduce the spaces to counter.

Antoine Kombouaré’s men doubled the lead as soon as they returned from the locker room through Amian Adou (2-0, 47th). In a bad way, the Monegasques then revolted to equalize in no time. After Embolo’s score was reduced (2-1, 52nd), Salisu tied the two teams just before the hour mark (2-2, 59th). A lesser evil for a persevering Monegasque team, if not brilliant. The score has not changed in the last half hour. Monaco is still struggling, Nantes is not really breathing.
