Despite a convincing victory against Brest (2-0) in Ligue 1, the start of 2025 was marked by financial difficulties for SCO Angers. Professional players received only 40% of their January salaries, when the full amount should have been paid by January 5 at the latest, reports
The Team. This situation arises from cash flow problems linked to delays in the financial contribution planned by the company Cosnelle, owned by Saïd Chabane, who is also the president of the club.
A loan to regularize the situation
Saïd Chabane explained that the rest of the salaries should be paid between January 15 and 20, thanks to a loan that the Cosnelle company is preparing to inject into the club’s coffers. In the meantime, administrative staff, the training center and stewards have been fully paid. Sports director Laurent Boissier met the players at the start of the week to inform them and try to reassure them.
On a sporting level, SCO Angers, currently 14th in Ligue 1, hopes to maintain its positive dynamic despite these financial difficulties behind the scenes.
