According to Sport, Robinho and other inmates at the P2 Dr. Jose Augusto Cesar Salgado prison in Tremembe, Sao Paulo state, designed their own offline version of the dating app Tinder. This was set up with a women’s penitentiary about three miles away, where inmates send each other photos and guards read letters exchanged between them.

Robinho was sentenced to nine years in prison in March 2024 after being convicted of gang rape in an Italian nightclub in January 2013. The 40-year-old former Manchester City player was one of six men convicted by an Italian court of assaulting an Albanian woman.

The report added that unlike many of his fellow prisoners, Robinho was not allowed 11 days of freedom over the Christmas period. This meant he was unable to spend family time with his wife Vivian and their three children at their Santos home.

The former Brazil international, who was initially convicted in 2017 but whose case took seven years to resolve, will still have to serve many more years in prison before being released.
