This January 7, 2025, Florentino Pérez kicked off the presidential elections of Real Madrid, the result of which is expected by the end of the month. Big favorite for a new mandate, Pérez aims to go beyond a simple re-election.

At recent general meetings, he discussed an ambitious plan to transform the club’s ownership model, with the aim of ensuring that the members remain the true owners of Real.

A unique model: socio-shareholders

Pérez’s project proposes to move Real Madrid towards a system where members would become shareholders of the club. The Real Madrid Foundation would hold 51% of the shares, while the remaining 49% would be allocated to members, with a restriction on the resale of shares outside of families.

This model aims to protect the club’s heritage while modernizing its economic management. This radical change will, however, require the approval of socios by referendum. Pérez said: “ We want to guarantee that the members remain the true owners of the club and its economic assets. »
