It was one of the actions that caused a lot of talk in Ligue 1. Before the break, as part of the advanced meeting of the 16th day between Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco, Wilfried Singo went guilty of a foul as gross as it was involuntary by putting his crampon in the face of Gianluigi Donnarumma. Bloodied, the Italian goalkeeper had to give way to Matvey Safonov while the Ivorian defender was able to continue the match despite a fairly generous yellow card from François Letexier.

Obviously, Parisian supporters and many Ligue 1 observers were offended by this decision. This Tuesday, the arbitration department made a decision. Wilfried Singo deserved to be expelled: “this situation is very difficult to judge, between recklessness, lack of intentionality, lack of consideration and endangering the physical integrity of the goalkeeper. Analyzing the images, the Monegasque certainly plays the ball, but his action endangers the physical integrity of the goalkeeper, given the sole directly impacting the latter’s face. This situation therefore constitutes a gross error within the meaning of law 12. The intervention of the video assistance was expected to modify the initial decision and exclude the offending player.»
