In a thrilling final in Riyadh, AC Milan made a spectacular comeback against Inter to win the Supercoppa Italiana (3-2). Pillar of this heroic comeback, Theo Hernandez shone brightly by showing himself to be doubly decisive: author of a masterful free kick and decisive passer for the equalizer. A performance which sealed the Rossoneri’s eighth title in this competition and put an end to the Nerazzurri’s reign.

Inter had started well

Despite a balanced start to the match, Inter took control thanks to Lautaro Martinez just before half-time. Taking advantage of a risky recovery from Jimenez, Mkhitaryan finds Taremi, who serves Lautaro magnificently. The Argentine captain is in perfect control before shooting Maignan with the left (45th).

The Nerazzurri doubled their lead from the restart. Taremi, this time at the conclusion, converted a through ball with composure to score his first goal in play under his new colors. At 2-0, Inter seem to have done the hard part.

Theo Hernandez and Leao turn everything around

But Milan refuses to collapse. The entry of Rafael Leao energizes the Rossoneri. From his first acceleration, he provokes a free kick which Theo Hernandez elegantly transforms, lodging the ball in the top corner despite a hesitation from Sommer (55th). The match changes its soul.

Milan pushes, and in the 80th minute, Theo shines again. His precise cross found Pulisic, who equalized with a precise recovery. The Nerazzurri are cracking under pressure. The sentence falls in the 89th minute. Leao, again, overflows on his wing and serves Tammy Abraham, who finishes with a close-range shot under the bar. Milan achieves the unthinkable.

Conceição starts with a bang with Milan

Just one week after his arrival, Sergio Conceição won his first trophy at the head of Milan. With an imperial Théo Hernandez, the Rossoneri remind us that they have lost none of their rage to win and that they are ready to shake up the hierarchy this season.
