What a relief! After three defeats in a row in the league – four counting the 32e of the Coupe de France final against OM – ASSE returned to winning ways this Saturday when they hosted Reims as part of the 16e lifting of Ligue 1.
With a new coach on the bench – the Norwegian Eirik Horneland – the Greens were able to lay down the law in the Cauldron with a stunning score of 3-1, while the Rémois had opened the scoring against the run of play in the first period, by Nakamura (0-1, 42e).
Stassin’s jewel
Returning from the locker room, Boakye repaired the anomaly in the space of seven minutes, scoring at 50e and 57e to give his team the advantage – Stassin having given more substance to this great victory with a nice offensive sequence (3-1, 80e). Anything but trivial for AS Saint-Etienne found and temporarily out of the red, with a fifth success this season. For Reims, 10ethe bad patch continues however with a fifth day of the championship without a victory.
