OM coach Roberto De Zerbi could soon reunite with his former protégé Domenico Berardi, Sassuolo star and pillar of the Italy team. Eager to strengthen his attack this winter, De Zerbi would have asked his leaders to take action to recruit the Italian winger, according to the Italian press.
A legendary tandem ready to reform?
2021 European champion with Italy, Domenico Berardi is making a strong comeback after an Achilles tendon injury. With 3 goals and 10 assists in 882 minutes this season in Serie B, the 30-year-old winger continues to attract attention. Under contract with Sassuolo until 2027, Berardi is available for an amount estimated at 10 million euros. If OM advances on this issue, they will face competition from Italian clubs like Atalanta, Fiorentina and AS Roma.
An asset for OM?
Versatile and experienced, Berardi, who scored 145 goals in 382 matches with Sassuolo, could be a major asset for the Marseille attack, in particular to compensate for the uncertainties around Amine Harit. However, no concrete offer has yet been announced, although the operation is considered “sensational and imminent” by some media.
