It’s a little bomb dropped this Friday by Mohamed Salah. Two days before the clash between Liverpool and Manchester United in the Premier League, the Egyptian striker gave an interview to Sky Sports where he talks about the fact that it is his “last year” with the Reds.

Salah thus recalls the objectives he set at the start of the season. “The first thing on the list was to win the Premier League with Liverpool, confided the current top scorer in the championship. In my interviews over the last seven or eight years, I always said that I want to win the Champions League. But this is the first time I’ve said I really want to win the Premier League with Liverpool. »

Why this change? “I have no idea. It’s probably because we didn’t celebrate our victory the way we wanted, explains Salah, in reference to the title won in 2020 during the health crisis linked to Covid. And also, because it’s my last year in the club, so we want to do something special for the city. »

Salah, is it really over?

At the end of his contract with the Reds, Salah clearly evokes a departure from Liverpool. However, the series is undoubtedly not over, because the Egyptian has repeated in recent weeks the appeals to his management, regretting the fact of not having received any offer (in December), or confiding that An agreement was very far from being reached.

Relaunched on the question of his future, Salah was less categorical. “Is this really my last year?” So far, yes. These are the last six months. There is no progress on this. We are far from any progress.
So you just have to wait and see.”he replied, not being as definitive as in previous questions. Perhaps the story isn’t quite over…
