FC Barcelona is crossing its fingers. And very strong. After being rejected twice by the Spanish courts, the Catalan club still hopes to be able to register Dani Olmo on the gong. Because the Culés know very well that the consequences would be catastrophic in the event that they were definitively not authorized to register their striker in La Liga. Without this registration, Olmo can no longer play in La Liga or the Champions League and can also no longer be selected for the national team. And that’s not all.

Mundo Deportivo indicates this Friday that Barça cannot even loan or sell Olmo this winter, the time to find a solution, because the regulations require the player to be registered in a league. In short, the situation is becoming distressing, even if the player’s agent has reiterated his protégé’s desire to stay in Catalonia. “We do not negotiate with any club. Dani is a Barcelona player and he wants to be a Barcelona player. He made great efforts in his life to be at Barcelona. It had been his desire for a long time. Barcelona is the first and last option! » However, things are seriously starting to rumble in Ciudad Condal. And today, President Joan Laporta is clearly in the crosshairs of FC Barcelona fans, tired of seeing their team publicly humiliate themselves with this kind of situation.

“The losses could amount to €200 million”

Concretely, Barça lovers accuse Laporta of having depreciated the image and values of the Blaugrana club by digging a little deeper the grave of the deficit instead of having turned its back in recent months, and this, even having concluded an XXL agreement worth more than €100 million annually with the American equipment manufacturer Nike. “In times like this, we must evaluate all options to mobilize members. The motion of censure is a democratic tool which, if it has sufficient support, can be decisive in giving members the opportunity to decide on the future of the club. We must make Barcelonismo aware of the seriousness of the moment and work together to protect the values and the social ownership model. All the symptoms are those of a disoriented and weak club, far from the excellence and integrity that Barça has always demonstrated. International respect is being lost, the club is unstructured and can only plug the holes. If he does not get back on track, the risk is not only economic, it is sporting: it is his identity that is at stake”confided to Relevo Joan Camprubí, leader of the supporters group Som un clam.

Marc Ciria, an economist who follows Barça and who was part of Laporta’s electoral team, was even more pessimistic about Laporta’s management. “Club planning is non-existent. There is no general manager, no company director. Next year, losses could amount to 200 million euros if there is no buyer. It’s a bit grotesque. My honest opinion is that LaLiga hasn’t helped Barca since 2021. There was a pandemic problem and the club couldn’t sell assets. Making a profit this way is bad news. There was a lack of flexibility and respect. If it was Real Madrid, there would have been more revenue. Barça wanted to advance these revenues and not expect an improvement. I believe that with good management this would not have happened. We have been here for four years and we will have more losses than in the previous term. If the president does not realize that he needs high-level professionals… Patriarchal management does not work. » The situation is more tense than ever in Barcelona…
