Cristiano Ronaldo, five-time Ballon d’Or and football legend, is at the heart of a rumor that is panicking social networks. According to journalist Pedro Almeida, PSG and the Portuguese star are in advanced discussions for a potential transfer. Information which, at first glance, seems attractive, but which quickly raises doubts as it seems improbable.
A rumor hard to believe
If the idea of seeing Cristiano Ronaldo playing in the Parisian jersey is appealing to some, several facts seriously call this hypothesis into question. First of all, the 39-year-old has recently been very critical of Ligue 1. During the Globe Soccer Awards, he said: “In France, there is only PSG, the others are finished”adding that the Saudi championship where he currently plays has nothing to envy of French football. These comments hardly suggest that the Portuguese would be tempted by a return to Europe, and even less to Ligue 1.
Furthermore, PSG have already tried to attract Ronaldo twice in the past, in 2017 and 2021, without success. When leaving Juventus in 2021, Paris preferred to concentrate its efforts on Lionel Messi, making any rapprochement with Ronaldo impossible. Today, at 39, Ronaldo seems well established in Saudi Arabia, where he has become the face of the Saudi Pro League and the country’s sporting and economic ambitions.
A context which does not argue in favor of this hypothesis
From a strategic point of view, this transfer also seems irrelevant. PSG, under the leadership of Luis Enrique, has for some time been banking on younger players to build a competitive team in the long term. The arrival of Ronaldo could unbalance this vision.
Finally, it should be noted that this rumor seems to appear out of nowhere, without any real solid basis. Pedro Almeida, although being a journalist followed for his transfer information, does not present any tangible proof here. It is therefore likely that this statement is more a means of creating noise than real information.
Cristiano Ronaldo, a legend already established?
Cristiano Ronaldo, although he remains an icon of world football, seems to have found his balance at Al-Nassr. With a lucrative contract and a central role in Saudi Arabia’s sporting plans, he is unlikely to consider a return to Europe. The Portuguese star himself has repeatedly stated that he wants to stay in Saudi Arabia until the end of his career, thus reinforcing the idea that this rumor is just speculation.
