While Mohamed Salah has had a string of high-flying performances this season, uncertainty still hangs over his future at Liverpool. The Egyptian striker, author of 30 decisive contributions in 18 Premier League matches, has still not found an agreement to extend his contract, and discussions seem to have stalled. A situation which fuels speculation about a possible departure at the end of the season.

A complex contractual situation

According to recent information from David Ornstein, renowned journalist from The Athletic, no agreement is imminent between Salah and the leaders of the Reds. Worse still, from January 1, the player will be free to negotiate a pre-contract with any club outside England. Among the possible destinations, the Saudi Pro League continues to eye the striker, but European clubs could also position themselves to try to attract one of the most prolific players of the season.

End clap for Salah in Liverpool?

Asked about his situation after Liverpool’s victory against West Ham, Salah himself confirmed the status quo: “No, we are still far from an agreement, and I prefer not to say anything further in the media. » A response which leaves no doubt about the state of the negotiations, or rather their absence.

Salah, an end to the story already written?

Despite his statements indicating his desire to contribute to Liverpool’s success this season, Salah does not hide that the idea of a departure could materialize if discussions do not progress quickly. The prospect of joining PSG would also have been something to excite him. Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the boss of the French champions, never misses the opportunity to say good things about him.

For Liverpool, losing Salah would represent a huge loss, both sportingly and economically. But for the Egyptian, this contractual vagueness could well be the beginning of the end of his adventure on the banks of the Mersey.
