It’s official, Steffen Baumgart, former player and captain of Union Berlin, is now the club’s new coach following the dismissal of Bo Svensson. In this adventure, he will be accompanied by several familiar collaborators: Sebastian Bönig, Adrian Wittmann, René Wagner and Kevin McKenna, all of whom have worked with him in the past. Baumgart is therefore back in the Bundesliga, with the Union he knows well, where he played from 2002 to 2004.

The person concerned also expressed his joy at returning by saying: “I am very happy to return to the Bundesliga and to Union. It’s definitely an advantage to know the club and many of the people here well. We don’t have a long preparation period and we will work intensively with the players. Union offers very good conditions for success. I want to make the most of them with the coaching team, the trainers and the team”. He therefore says he is ready to take on the challenge with a well-prepared team and optimal conditions within the club. His first training with the team will take place next Thursday.
