Everton suffered a defeat to Nottingham Forest at Goodison Park, ending a good run of form for Sean Dyche’s men.
There’s no shame in losing to Nuno Espirito Santo’s men right now, but Maupay couldn’t resist targeting the Toffees, having done so before leaving for Marseille in the summer.
Maupay does not forget his old club
Posting on X, Maupay said: “Every time I have a bad day, I look at the Everton score and smile.”
Maupay’s post attracted a lot of attention, unsurprisingly from angry Everton fans, who were quick to point out that Craig Dawson – a defender who never played for the club – scored more times for the Toffees than the Frenchman. Everton have actually been on an upward trend in recent weeks, picking up points against Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City.
